The First Day

As Freshmen and Transfers walked up the stairs of Stevenson, down to the basement of Darwin and through the halls of Salazar on Tuesday morning, the air was filled with nerves and anticipation of finally beginning classes at SSU.

First Day is the beginning of class for new students on campus. They are split up into groups, play icebreakers, talk about how to get involved on campus and they have the opportunity to meet staff and student leaders.

After this event, they head to the Main Gym for Student Convocation. Not only was the Gym filled with student from wall to wall, but everyone seemed to be intently listening as professors and students spoke about the current state of our university with all the budget issues going on around us.

As the 2009-2010 year continues, students will not only be concerned with the state of our University, but we will all be working together to make our campus better than it has ever been before, despite the struggles we will all be facing together.
